Is listing my business really free?
Yes. No credit card, no invoice later, no auto-billing. We're building the directory and want as many good local businesses on it as possible, so the listing costs nothing.
Can I see examples of websites you build?
Yes. We built 100 live sample websites, one for each kind of local business, from plumbers and dentists to bakeries and churches. Every button works. When one feels right, ask for a free mockup of yours.
Do I need a website to list my business?
A website is required to list on PITHE, so customers can check you out before they call. No website yet, or need a new one? Our team builds simple, phone-first websites for local businesses. Send your info and industry and we'll provide a free mockup and quote.
When you add paid plans, will you charge me or remove my listing?
No. Any listing created free during launch stays free permanently. The paid tier will be an upgrade with extra features, not a bill for what you already have.
What's the catch?
There isn't one. A new directory needs businesses on it before it's useful to customers. Later we'll offer optional upgrades like featured placement and analytics. That's how we plan to earn revenue.
How is PITHE different from other business directories?
Every platform helps businesses in its own way, and we recommend keeping your Google, Apple and Bing profiles current too. PITHE is focused on independent businesses: we write your page for you, review every listing, send every inquiry directly to you, and ask for no card, contract or lead fees. How do customers actually find my listing?
We're an early-stage directory founded in May 2026. We invest in local SEO, schema markup and content for each page so it can rank over time for searches like "best plumber in" your city. We don't promise specific rankings or lead volume. Anyone who does is overstating. Listing early gets your page indexed while categories are still open.
What areas do you cover?
Independent businesses anywhere in the United States can list. We're based in Hillsboro, Oregon, so our first city pages cover the Portland metro's west side, and we add cities as businesses join.
Is there a free business directory that doesn't sell or share my leads?
Yes. PITHE is a free business directory where every call, text and email on your listing goes only to you. We never resell, share or intercept inquiries, and there are no per-lead fees.
Will I get sales calls after I list my business for free?
Not from us to pressure you. We contact you about your listing, such as approving your page or confirming details. Paid upgrades are optional, and declining them never affects your free listing.
Do I need a credit card or a contract for a free listing?
No. A free PITHE listing needs no credit card, has no contract and never auto-renews. You can ask us to remove it at any time by email.
Does a directory listing help my business show up in ChatGPT and AI search?
It can help. AI assistants and search engines look for consistent, trustworthy information about your business. A PITHE page gives them a plain-English summary, answers to common questions and structured data, plus a link to your website.
Do you offer paid listings, web design or SEO services?
Yes. Optional paid listing upgrades, such as a comprehensive profile with more photos and featured placement, are available or on the way, and our team offers website design, local SEO, Google, Apple and Bing profile setup, and AI search readiness. All of it is optional, and quotes are free.
What kinds of businesses can list?
Independent local businesses of nearly any kind: home services, contractors, auto repair, restaurants, shops, salons, fitness, accountants, attorneys, real estate, medical, dental, veterinary and more. We don't list national chains or franchise headquarters, or funeral, cremation, end-of-life or memorial services.
Will every business that applies be listed?
No. We review every request before anything is published, and we receive more than we can list. We decline requests we can't confirm, including licensed trades whose license we can't find on a public record, so include your license number if your trade requires one. Approval is at our discretion. See our Listing Standards.
Does PITHE vouch for the businesses it lists?
No. PITHE is a directory only. Listed businesses are independent, and our review is limited: it isn't an endorsement, a guarantee, or a license check you should rely on. Before hiring anyone, confirm their license with the state, ask for proof of insurance, and get the terms in writing. Any agreement is between you and the business.
