How to get paid faster
- Send it the same day. Invoices sent while the job is fresh get paid sooner.
- Make paying easy. List every way you accept money: card, Zelle, Venmo, check. One extra step costs you days.
- Put a real due date on it. "Due on receipt" or a date, not "whenever."
- Follow up politely and on schedule. A friendly reminder at day 7 and a firmer one at day 30 work. Use our payment reminder texts.
Number your invoices
Use a simple sequence (1001, 1002, 1003). Your bookkeeper and the IRS both like it, and you will always know which job a payment belongs to.

It depends on your state and service. Oregon has no sales tax. Washington, California and Florida tax some services and not others. Check your state revenue department or ask a bookkeeper.

Your business name and contact, the customer, an invoice number, the date, line items, the total, a due date and how to pay.
